Overall Crime in Florida dropped for first half of 2014 with a slight increase in violent crimes and an increase in domestic violence.
Crime across the State of Florida dropped for the first half of 2014 according to a new 2014 Semi-Annual Uniform Crime Report. The report compares statistics from the previous year at the same time.
While crime was down overall, the report shows a slight increase of 0.1 percent in violent crimes, such as murder, forcible sex offenses, aggravated assault, and aggravated battery. Domestic violence went up nearly a half percent.
Law enforcement officers made 444,558 arrests from January through June 2014. Three law enforcement officers died from criminal causes while on duty and one died accidentally.
